Orders flowing again after a week stuck on hold with support
When a connector update broke the link between a maker's Shopify store and QuickBooks, we replaced it, set it up for deposit-based custom orders and found the cause of mismatched bank deposits.

The situation
A custom-order design business ran its Shopify store through an accounting connector to QuickBooks Online. A connector update started duplicating transactions and stopped inventory from transferring. The team spent more than a week on hold with both vendors' support lines without a fix, with their busiest month approaching.
What we did
- Recommended a replacement connector and sized its plan to cover the busy season, then drop to a lower tier
- Removed the old connector and installed, configured and mapped the new one on-site in a single day
- Set orders to sync as invoices so custom orders with deposits and partial payments are recorded correctly
- Found that payments were posting to the bank account instead of a clearing account, the cause of the mismatched deposits, and set out the steps to correct it
- Gave the bookkeeping staff a one-page set of rules to keep the bank feed and inventory clean
The results
Within a week of the switch, orders were reaching QuickBooks again. The deposit mismatch had a clear cause and a clear fix, and the plan choice saves over $300 in the first year compared with staying on the larger plan year-round.
